The First in Asia

 In today’s finals, Sultan Zaurbek (56 kg) defeated a Korean boxer having opened the scoring of the Kazakhstan boxers’ victories at the continental championships. Five more Kazakhstan athletes became the gold winners at the 2014 Asian Championships.

 The Kazakhstan boxers successfully performed at the Asian Youth Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, having gained 9 medals, including 6 gold and 3 bronze ones, and were the first in the team scoring.

 

Ablaikhan Zhusupov gave no chance to a Syrian boxer in the 60 kg weight class. Ayan Kalibekov (64 kg), Vadim Kazakov (81 kg), and Temirlan Kabiyev (91 kg) prevailed over Uzbek athletes who were their main rivals in the finals. Yeldos Kadyrbayev (+91 kg) outpunched a Syrian boxer.

 

Yertugan Zeinulinov (49 kg), Ivan Kovalev (52 kg), and Ilya Ochkin (69 kg) won bronze medals.

 

The Kazakhstan team that was represented in all 10 weigh classes at these championships is led by Galymbek Kenzhebayev, Chief Youth Coach.

 

In total, representatives of 16 countries participated in the Asian Championships that ended today, January 30.
