During this conference it was mentioned that the past year was special for the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation. It was marked with both important events in the history of boxing in Kazakhstan and tremendous achievements of Kazakhstan boxers. For the first time in the history of sports in Kazakhstan the country hosted an Olympic sport event, the World Adult Boxing Championships. In addition, the Kazakhstan team demonstrated unparalleled results at the Asian Championships having won 7 gold medals and one silver medal and the first place in team scoring in Amman, Jordan. Another achievement of Kazakhstan boxing was the victory of Astana Arlans team in Season Three of the World Series of Boxing.
In 2013, the Federation was mainly focused on issues related to the arrangement of the world championships in Almaty and training of the National Boxing Team of the Republic of Kazakhstan for performance at the home-hosted global competition.

These centers will be commissioned in 2014. Besides, construction of another two sports and recreation centers will be started in 2014.
In 2013, the Federation carried out monitoring of boxing development at the regional level. The work will be continued this year as well. There was approved a trip schedule for the chief coach of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the coordinator of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation who will get acquainted with the athletes’ training process, including that in the boxing sections of sports schools and boarding schools. The monitoring is expected to result in the provision of recommendations aimed to enhance the sport training level.
The Federation continues standardization of the fitting-out and functioning framework of boxing sections and departments at the regional level, including the following activities:
- drafting of training programs on theoretical and practical courses for coaches, judges, athletes and other specialists;
- issuing of courseware for regional boxing sections;

In order to develop boxing at the regional level and to identify young talented athletes the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation Cup Tournament is held at the initiative of Mr. Timur Kulibayev, President of the Federation. In 2013, the Astana city team won this tournament for the second time.

Last year, the Federation started training coaches under the Bolashak Program. Twelve persons have already undergone advanced training courses under this program. Now Serik Sapiyev is studying at the London University. This year, the Federation will continue working in this direction. Both the number of students will be increased and the range of disciplines will be expanded. In particular, it is planned to send national mass media journalists specializing in sports for training.
2014 is declared the Year of Coach as the main focus is on the training of coaches. Therefore, the permanent Higher Coach Training Courses have been established at the initiative of the Federation in collaboration with the Agency for Sports and Physical Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thus, the first group of coaches attended a workshop under these courses on January 15-20 at the Olympic Boxing Training Center in Almaty.
Another equally important focus area is to provide for competent judging. This is one of the most important factors that influence the sport development dynamics. The Federation systematically works with judges. Training and qualification courses for judges are carried out on a regular basis.
Taking into consideration the fact that new technical rules for AIBA competitions were introduced in 2013, the Federation carried out 4 workshops for Kazakhstan judges. One workshop was conducted in January 2014 with four more workshops scheduled to be held later this year.
It should be noted that the actions taken have had a positive effect. At present, there is one judge with AIBA’s ‘5 Stars’ category, seven ‘3 Stars’ judges, three ‘2 Stars’ judges, and eight ‘1 Star’ judges.
