However, the preliminary figures already break the records of the previous world junior championships.

The following athletes will represent Kazakhstan at this World Championship:

Kairat Satzhanov, Chief Coach of the National Junior Team of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that all athletes in his team are in good shape. “The National Junior Team includes Kazakhstan champions and six of them were the best at the Asian Championship in April. The training process was arranged quite well in the Olympic Training Base in Almaty. Our boxers are in good spirits and ready to fight for victory,” said the Chief Coach. According to Kairat Satzhanov, the ultimate goal for the National Junior Team is to repeat its success at the continental tournament. Joining the top three in the team scoring is quite a challenging task taking into account the level of competitors but Kazakhstan athletes are able to accomplish it, thinks Kairat Satzhanov. “Our main rivals are Cuba, United States, CIS countries, in particular, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan,” added the team coach.

In the morning of September 7 all boxers will be weighed and the drawing will be held afterwards. Preliminary fights will take place tomorrow evening. Semi-finals are scheduled for September 14. The names of 13 world champions will be announced on September 15.

The AIBA World Junior Boxing Championships are held every two years. The previous World Championship took place in Astana in 2011 with Bekzhan Kibitkaliyev winning the gold medal in the 54 kg weight category. The Russian National Junior Team got the first place in the team scoring (4-1-3). Kazakhstan (1-1-2) was on the forth place following the Uzbekistan (2-1-2) and Australian (2 gold medals) teams.

Good luck to the Kazakhstan team!
