Kazakhstan National Boxing Team is currently at a training camp at AIBA Academy located in Almaty region.
Head coach of the National Team Mr Myrzagali Aitzhanov informed the official web-site of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation about the current training camp, upcoming tournaments in which Kazakhstan athletes will take part and many other things.
- Myrzagali Kulanovich, could you please briefly describe us the training process. What are you up to?
- The training camp started on January 5. First of all, we are paying particular attention to general physical preparedness. The main task is to gain strength, to improve boxers’ functional condition. We are swimming in the pool, doing exercises in the mountains and workouts in the gym. After this training camp we will give our boxers a chance to have a rest for one week. On February 6 we will gather again at AIBA Academy where we are planning to have a joint training camp with boxers from Germany and USA. We will further concentrate on advancing technical and tactical skills and arrange sparring sessions.
- Could you tell us more about upcoming tournaments in which our athletes will take part?
- Some boxers of the National Team will compete at the prestigious tournament in Hungary at the beginning of the next month. Also, after February training camp seven boxers will attend the tournament in Bulgaria, where they will represent Kazakhstan.
- What do you think about new young athletes who joined the National Team recently?
- We believe that particularly these young athletes will honorably represent Kazakhstan at the next Olympic Games in Tokyo. To achieve that result they need to work hard. At the past Youth World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg three of our boxers were in the finals. Therefore we decided to invite them to the National Elite Team. As you know Birzhan Zhakypov and Berik Abdrakhmanov have left the National Team. Olzhas Sattybayev will be a captain of “Astana Arlans”. We will be observing his performance at WSB. Zhanibek Alimkhanuly missed this training camp because of the hand injury and he is currently under treatment.
