Serik Sapiyev Granted Kazakhstan’s State Award ‘For Contributing to Sports and Physical Education Development’

On the occasion of the Sports Day, Astana saw a ceremonial meeting and awarding of Kazakhstan’s sports community representatives.

Today, the State Awards ‘For Contributing to Sports and Physical Education Development in the Republic of Kazakhstan’, Honorary Certificates and Letters of Gratitude were presented by Mr. Yerlan Kozhagapanov, Chairman, Agency for Sports and Physical Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  In his speech, the Chairman extended his appreciation to the sports community of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including active athletes, sports veterans, physical education professionals, representatives of sports federations and coaches, for their hard work, patience and achievements in the best interests of their motherland.  “A healthy lifestyle is a key to the nation’s health.  Each Kazakhstan citizen may, with their own good example, make a significant contribution to the development of mass sports.  Nowadays, sports are an essential factor in enhancing the quality and longevity of each Kazakhstani as well as the nation’s competiveness on the whole.  My congratulations on the coming Sports Day, my friends!”, said Mr. Kozhagapanov to his colleagues.

This year, the State Awards ‘For Contributing to Sports and Physical Education Development’ and ‘Honorary Worker of Sports’, as well as Honorary Certificates and Letters of Gratitude were granted to 244 persons, including Alexander Schneidmuller and Tarikh Tolegenov, honorary sports veterans; Yerden Khalilin, Director, Shakhter Football Team; Yevgeniy Nikitinsky, Vice President, KazSportInvest JSC; Amangeldy Dairov, Director, North Kazakhstan Regional Residential School; Serik Sapiyev, London Olympic Champion; Sergei Volkov, Director, Tobol Basketball Club, and many others.

“For me it is yet another sports award for the achievements for my motherland.  I’m grateful to the people of Kazakhstan for their recognition,” said S. Sapiyev in his interview.
